The Word of Promise, New Testament is a dramatization audio of the NKJV on 20 audio CD’s, which also includes a behind the scenes dvd. The audio is over 21 hours of dramatized audio by over 120 actors. This product also contains an original soundtrack with high quality sound effects. The cast includes many actors which also includes Jim Caviezel, from “The Passion of The Christ”. Other actors and actresses include Marisa Tomei, Stacy Keach, Louis Gossett, Jr., and many more. The audio production is very well done and the dramatized format has that old school mystery radio feel to it. At times it feels like the music in the background repeats itself, however, you will find it very hard to stop listening. The great thing is that you can take these audio cds with you to listen to them in your car, pc, at home, at work or else where. This dramatized audio cds of The Word of Promise, New Testament will make a unique addition to your Bible audio library, however, my hope is that such dramatized audio’s will never become a substitution for the reading and listening to the Word of God without the dramatization.

NKJV Greatest Stories of the Bible contains 250 selected stories from the New King James Version. I am use the word story very carefully as it is very important to note that the content of the literature in this book format are biblical accounts that are both historical and inspired by God as the word of God. I think the intent of packaging different portions of the word of God in a book format is very nice, however, my fear is that the format doesn’t become the dominating factor over the content, as well as, that no one is tempted to use such a packaging and format to exclude other parts of the word of God that were not included in this package. To also omit some portions of scripture in a abridged format for the sake of story formating is going way over board. The fonts and formating used gives this packaging a book feel to it. I would definantely be interested in seeing the format and fonts used in a complete usage of both the old and new testament in it’s entirety without any omissions.

Fearless, author Max Lucado has a way of communicating with his readers real life stories and blending it together with Jesus’ teachings. He shares words to help the read conquer their fears by trusting in Jesus Christ.

While I applaued the attempts made in this book to encourage christians to live a fearless life, I can’t help to see that this book is more geared towards appealing to a feeler good sensitive culture and my fear is that all said in this book be taken as a self help book with a man centeredness point of view sprinkled with scriptures rather than a God centeredness.

At the end of the day nothing really matters, not even our attempts at living a fearless life unless the ever consuming passion of our lives is to live in such a way that would most Glorify God.

Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World by Dr. David Jeremiah is a follow up to his last book, ” What in the World is Going On? ” Dr. Jeremiah discusses how we are to live as Christians as in last days. While this book offers a lot of hope I would caution that while reading this book that we weigh all scripture with scripture and an important part of that is a fundamental understanding of the doctrines of grace. Other wise, we can easily lose the context of the scriptures and turn that which the scriptures says about itself into a self help book. Also, I would suggest that you read his prior book before reading this book. Otherwise, the things said in this book no matter how comforting they sound may not be applicable. Lastly, all the things discussed in this book do not guarantee that our circumstances in life and especially in these last days will necessarily improve, if anything they may get worst, nevertheless, there is a true sense that we can still stay calm, compassionate, challenged and so on in the midst of all the chaos as we grow in our personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as both Savior and Lord of Our Lives.

Nelson’s Illustrated Guide to Religions: A Comprehensive Introduction to the Religions of the World by James A. Beverley (Thomas Nelson, 2009) introduces the reader to the different major religions of the world. The author shares each religion in comparison to biblical teachings of The Holy Scriptures. This is a study of world religions from a christian perspective. This book will provide with enough information to understand the basics of the religions of the world without going too in depth. If you are looking for a guide to better understanding world religions in comparison to what the word of God says then this book is for you. It will provide you enough information that can be useful when witnessing to others who find themselves in other beliefs and religions. This hardcover book is very bulky, however, the book comes with a colorful book jacket and the overall look and feel of this book is of high quality. This guide will be very helpful for bible studies on world religions. Enjoy.

This is a new book by Max Lucado. The quality of this book is very impressive. This book contains a lot of beautiful pictures that help set the tone for Max Lucado’s writing style. This book draws it content from previously written books by Max Lucado. The style of Max Lucado’s writing style has a poetic feel to it in a very devotional tone and feel to it. Max Lucado covers the life of Jesus Christ as and pieced together into this book by drawing its information from many of Lucado’s famous books such as He Still Moves Stones, and many of his other books. I recommend this book if your looking for devotional reading material, not for deep theological study of The Life of Jesus Christ. Max Lucado has a unique giftedness of conveying passages in a way that make them relatable to the reader. He communicates in a style that helps the reader to visualize what they are reading. Let me be clear on one thing in this regard. I want to make clear that relatable, and down to earth speaks more of communication and still and not so much on theological context. While much can be gained and said for this type of effective writing and communication style it must also be said that we must make an effort to diligently study the work of God to get a clear understanding of the context of the text. This book is beautiful in look, insightful and highly recommended with a devotional and prayerful treatment in mind as we behold The Greatest Life ever Lived by Our Lord and Savior, “His Name is Jesus”.

This is truly a wonderful Gift Book. The writing style is devotional in content. It includes biblical text, quotes by prominent christian authors, as well as, great insights from the author and photographer Ken Duncan. The Photographs are absolutely breathtaking. One cannot help, but visualize some of the many places that the Apostle Paul traveled through during his missionary journeys. John MacArthur, Pastor-Teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley California opens this book with an insightful summary of the life of Paul. Ken Duncan masterfully divides this book into three parts. The First part of the book is titled “The Making of a Man”. This part of the book walks you through Saul of Tarsus point of conversion (Saul is Paul’s Jewish Name) until his calling by God to minister along with Barnabus, at the church of Antioch. The second part of the book titled “The Mission of a Man” walks you through Paul’s three missionary journeys. The final part of the book titled “The Destiny of a Man” walks you through Paul’s imprisonments until as traditional it is believed he was beheaded in Rome at the command of the Emperor Nero. The Author and Award Winning Photographer does a masterful job at capturing some of the many geographical landmarks that Paul traveled through during his ministry journeys. This book is meant to help give a visual glimpse of some of the footsteps of this beloved man of God, the Apostle Paul. I highly recommend this book. Experience the Journey that Changed the World.
Hank Hanegraaff returns with an updated version of his signature book “Christianity in Crisis: The 21st Century”. It would be an understatement to say that such a book is more necessary now then when it was orginally published. In this book you will be exposed to the Heresy called the “Prosperity Movement”. Below are some quotes from the book selected by the publisher to describe in better details on the contents of such a dangerous movement that continues to sweep the world in error.

“God cannot do anything in this earthly realm unless we give Him permission.”

“Keep saying it-’I have equality with God’-talk yourself into it.”

“Being poor is a sin.”

“The Jews were not rejecting Jesus as Messiah; it was Jesus who was refusing to be the Messiah to the Jews!”

“You create your own world the same way God creates His. He speaks, and things happen; you speak, and they happen.”

The year was 1990. As a young man I turned on the Television and there on my screen was this Tele-Evangelist stating that God wants to give you what ever you want and all you had to do is display your faith by sending in money as your vow or seed. I didn’t know any better and considering that I had something dear to my heart that I needed an answer to I decided to sign up and send in my monetary seed. In return I received a paper hand which I mounted to the back of the door of my room. Every day I would place my hand on the paper hand and name it and claim it all in the name of Jesus. I never got that prayer answered. This was not the God of the Bible that this so called Evangelist was proclaiming. Ladies and Gentlemen: Do Not Be Deceived into Believing a Lie. While God was merciful is sparing me from the brunt of this heresy and deception there are many people that are and continue to be deceived in believing in such destructive heresies that Demote God, The Deity and Atonement of Jesus Christ and Deify Man and Satan. This book is a must read for every christian in such a ‘”pragmatic” and “seeker friendly” time as we live in. Hank Hanegraaff makes mention names of prominent and famous preachers that are sharing a different gospel that in reality is not the true gospel of Jesus Christ. If you happen to know anyone involved in the “Faith Movement”, “Prosperity Movement” or “Seeker Friendly Movement” as it is called this book is a must pick up for them. From Chapter to Chapter Hanegraaff will name detail what some of these people are teaching. This is a fairly huge book, however, it is worth the read considering that such heretical false teachings are truly and unequivocally a matter of Life and Death.
“The Truth of the Cross” by R.C. Sproul is arguably one of the best books written on the Cross. It is an understatement to state that Dr. R.C. Sproul has a rare and unique giftedness of explaining meaty theological doctrine in a way that is both thorough and simplistic. I found myself reading through this book effortlessly. This book covers the important theological study of the powerful, meaningful and most necessary atonement of Jesus Christ at the Cross. In the words of R.C. Sproul in Chapter 1: “I doubt there has been a period in the two thousand years of Christian history when the significance, the centrality, and even the necessity of the cross have been more controversial than now. … Never before in Christian history has the need for an atonement been as widely challenged as it is today.” R.C. Sproul walks you through an in depth understanding of “The Necessity of the Atonement”, “The Just God and the importance of the Just Character of God in the Atoning work of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”, “The Total Depravity of Man”, “Atonement, Redemption, Substitution, Propitiation, Expiation, Mediation and Surety of Jesus Christ” and so much more. At the end of the book R.C. closes out the book with an insightful Chapter on Q&A. R.C. Sproul does a great job in walking you through a thorough look at the Holy Scriptures of the Word of God in order to explain each theological concept.
This is the true story of a teenage girl named Rachel Scott, a Christian, who was one of 13 victims killed on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School, for affirming her faith. This book was originally released in 2000 and has recently been released as a 10th Anniversary Edition.

This book is hard to put down once you start reading it. The Publisher uses two quotes from Rachel Scott’s Journal that best describes this book.

” I am not going to apoligize for speaking the name of Jesus. I am not going to justify my faith to them, and I am not going to hide the light that God has put in me. If I have to sacrifice everything…I will.”

” This will be my last year Lord. I have gotten what I can. Thank You.”

The true story is both about Faith and Tragedy. Reading this book you feel like you come close to knowing the heart of Rachel Scott as she shares insights into her relationship with Jesus Christ in her Daily Christian Walk. The writings in her journal are very deep, transparent and beyond her years. The authors do a great job at sharing insights that help the reader to better understand Rachel Scott.

The first half of the book is very inspirational, then from then on it becomes a little bit of over kill. While it is clear that the her parents, family and friends were extremely touched with both the life and death of this young christian girl they tend to over state her testimony without dedicating a chapter to The Gospel Message of Jesus Christ. The authors do a great job at setting up the story line of a young christian girl who was beyond her years in her relationship with Jesus Christ.

The writings in Rachel Scott’s personal Journal is absolutely motivation for our youth of today, as well as, adults. This young girl expressed a great desire to know God. She came across very open and honest in her journals. She clearly expressed her heart in a way that you cant help, but want to know more about. After reading this book you actually feel like you knew Rachel Scott. The authors also did a great job at bringing her testimony of faith to the reader in a way that was both captivating, encouraging and in a way that young people will be able to relate to. However, they clearly missed huge opportunites to spend some serious time directing her testimony to the message of the heart of the gospel which is Jesus Christ. There is just not a lot of time spent on explaining and describing the heart of gospel according to Jesus Christ. This was by far the book’s biggest missed opportunity. While I highly recommend this book because of the intent and encouragement of the testimony of Rachel Scott, I also want to caution the reader to read it with a grain of salt as it relates to it’s content. Let me just add one more thought. I wrestled with a lot of the content of this book, not so much as it relates to Rachel Scott’s testimony or journal writing, but more in how at times the authors expressed a Man Centered Feel Good type of Christianity, while at other times expressing the importance of a Christ centered Christianity. At times it felt like the authors were heading in the direction of expounding of the Gospel Message in more in depth terms and then the flow of the message becomes pragmatic and even experiential in its theological content. While this book is very encouraging in it’s testimony, it has a great deal of areas of opportunity on the lack of presenting a clear, complete and accurate account of what the heart of the gospel message of Jesus Christ is all about. Overall, the testimony of this young christian girl Rachel Scott is extremely a heartfelt and encouraging testimony in the midst of such a great tragedy.
